When will the world end?
This is a question that has been on the minds of a lot of people in the past few years. There have been movies, TV shows and books written on the end of the world as we know it. People have speculated and predicted the end many times, but dates have come and gone and we are still here.
So when will the world end? The fact of the matter is that only God knows. The angels in heaven don’t know, not even the Son (Jesus) knows. (Matthew 24:36 No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.) We do know that it will come at a time when we least expect it and we had better be ready when it does come. (Matthew 24:42-44 Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.)
The end of the world will come when God the Father says it will end, not earlier and not later, but at the exact moment that He has determined. Anyone who says that they know when the world will end is claiming that they know more than the Son of God. It may be today or it may be one hundred years from now but it will happen and we need to be prepared.
