Why do Christians think that everyone should believe as they do, isn’t that being arrogant?
Everyone wants to go to Heaven, at least all those who believe that there is a Heaven. At least most obituaries say that he or she went to be with their Maker, or something to that effect.
The reason why Christians share their faith or should share their faith is that we care what happens to people. We believe that the Bible is God’s revelation to us and what it says about getting to Heaven, and the coming judgment and the consequences of not getting into Heaven. You may not believe that, and that is your privilege, but we think that you at least should have the opportunity to hear what the Bible says about getting to Heaven or going to Hell.
If you were going down the road and you saw flames coming out of the roof of a house wouldn’t you immediately sound the alarm to make sure that no one was sleeping in that house and not aware of what was happening? Would that be unloving to wake someone up when they are soundly sleeping and in danger?
You may ask why do you think your way is the only way? It is not our way, we didn’t have anything to do with planning it. I would also ask, how can you decide what God should do and what he shouldn’t do? Jesus talked more about Hell than He did about Heaven. If the Bible said all religions lead to Heaven I would be glad to believe it, it’s a nice thought. I wouldn’t have to spend my money supporting missionaries and other outreach programs. I wouldn’t have to be concerned about the eternal welfare of others or risk ridicule for sharing my faith.
I often wonder why people who want nothing to do with God or Jesus Christ here on earth would want to go to Heaven. We know little about what Heaven will be like, but we do know that Jesus will be there.
Jesus said, “I am going to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” (John 14:2-3). With whom would you want to spend eternity, Jesus or Satan?
