Q and A

Don't all scientists believe in evolution?

The Bible has been criticized, ridiculed, insulted, marginalized and declared obsolete for centuries yet it remains a best selling and popular book of all times. From a scientific, historical and prophetic point of view the evidence for it’s reliability is greater now than ever.

It is true that most scientists believe in evolution, it’s what they have been taught and what they have been expected to believe. By evolution we mean molecules to man, not variation within a kind. We have many kinds of dogs, but they are still dogs, they never change into cats or bears. Variation within a kind does not prove evolution.

Good science is not determined by consensus, or majority vote, good science is proved by evidence from experiments. “The collective opinion of scientist in a particular field on topics where there is general agreement is called the consensus of those scientists. A consensus can range from scientific areas that are well supported by experiments all the way down to areas where nothing has been established. Rarely are appeals to scientific consensus used where experimental evidence is strong, but they are often favored on subjects where the science is weak or nonexistent, such as the reality of extraterrestrial or parallel universes, and especially on divisive social issues that need scientific insight. A serious problem arises when advocates wield scientific consensus as if it were a valid scientific argument that carries the same weight as experimentally derived evidence.” (Acts and Facts May 09)

When Darwin came up with the theory of evolution in 1859 scientist knew little about the makeup of the cell, so it was easy for many to accept the idea that all life came from spontaneous generation of a single cell. As a result it became an accepted consensus, and even many theologians felt they had to compromise their theology to fit the consensus.

As a result many have built their careers on the theory of evolution and are not willing to consider anything else. It also provides an excuse for those who do not want to be accountable to any higher authority for their lifestyles or intellectual pride. Many have lost their jobs because they oppose evolution, but the number of scientists who believe in creation is increasing.

Dr. Stephen C. Meyer was quoted in World Magazine, “Our ability to peer into cells also shows Intelligent Design. We don’t see little faces, but we do see other indicators of intelligent activity, such as the digital code that’s stored in a DNA molecule, or the tiny little miniature machines, the nanotechnology, the sliding clamps and rotary engines and turbines that biologists are finding inside living cells. Since the possibility of undirected materialistic causes producing life in its profusion is virtually nil, and since conscious, rational, intelligent agency now stands as the only cause known to be capable of generating large amounts of specified information staring from a non living state, ID is by far the most plausible explanation.”

Even many scientists who are not Christians are accepting Intelligent Design.

"The existence of David Berlinski is a problem for Darwinists who attempt to stigmatize critics by labeling all of them as religious creationist. The 67-year old secular Jew and agnostic was born to Jewish-German refugees from Nazi Germany. He has since shocked students through his teaching at Stanford, Rutgers, and at least at eight other colleges and universities. He received his Ph. D. at Princeton University and has written curmudgeonly books such as The Devils Delusion, Atheism and it’s Scientific Pretensions, and Deniable Darwin and Other Essays. Berlinski, proceeding from a scientific rather than a Christian viewpoint sees big holes in Darwinism. It’s inadequate as a theory, and I feel very sympathetic, very warm, towards Intelligent Design.” (World Magazine, Dec. 2009)

Any theory that needs laws and court orders to prevent anyone from giving the evidence against it in our public education system must be built on shaky evidence. Intelligent Design can tell us that there is a supernatural Intelligence, but it does not tell us the nature of that Intelligence., for that we need revelation. See also Can We Trust The Bible?
