Proverbs 22:6
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it
Soul Impact
Soul Impact is our Wednesday night Senior High program, and it is awesome! We begin with some hangout time downstairs at First Reformed Church (Soul Impact is a joint ministry of Faith and First Reformed) at 6:15pm. At 6:30 everyone is called together and we join with the Junior High students for a joint contemporary praise time. Around 6:50 the two groups break up again and the High School students’ hear a message given by Jeremy, First Reformed’s Youth Director, while Junior High students hear a message from Tom, Faith’s Youth Director. We finish our night by breaking into small groups by age and gender for discussion and application of the message. All Senior High Students (grades 9 through 12) are welcome to join us!
J-Teams
J-Teams is our small group Bible study program for Senior High students. Students gather in small groups according to age and gender and, along with an accompanying adult leader, study together, share each others lives, pray and grow together. Talk to Tom to get involved today!
Fort Wilderness Retreat
Each year our High School students take a retreat to Fort Wilderness, in McNaughton, WI (about 10 minutes from Rhinelander). This retreat is awesome, and we have a great time every year. In fact, as you can see here, we’ve already begun counting down the days until next year!
We play snow football, cross country ski, ice skate, ride horses, hang out in their coffee house, and play broomball – lots of broomball! And the best part is the spiritual growth we share together. This year was especially awesome, and we saw God work among us in some incredible ways. Despite lots of things that felt like roadblocks to his work, God reached through as only He can do and did some amazing things. He woke us up spiritually, and called us to follow him with our hearts and daily lives, not just with our name on a church roll. If you missed it, talk to someone who went…and next year come with us!!
Grand Rapids Mission Trip
We have a excellent service opportunity in our upcoming Grand Rapids mission trip. We travel over to Grand Rapids, Michigan to work with an organization called The Other Way. They minister to people in the Grand Rapids inner city, and God has transformed their neighborhood using them. We’re anxious to join them and be part of what God is doing there. If you are interested, a link to the Informational/Sign-up/Permission Form is provided below.
Sunday School
After the morning service each Sunday (around 10:15) we have a variety of different ways to learn and grow. Our children ages 3-5 learn from the Bible using David C. Cook’s Bible in Life curriculum. They sing together, have a Bible Story and do crafts that reinforce the story. Our classes for Kindergarten through 8th Grade use the Walk With Me curriculum published through Faith Alive Resources. Walk With Me is written and taught to incorporate an understanding of the Christian Faith from a reformed perspective, which stresses things like God’s sovereignty and his covenant with His people.
We also offer classes for High School through Adult. The Freshman and Sophomores go through a class called Questions Worth Asking, which is a fresh look at the Heidelberg Catechism. This class gives them a good understanding of Reformed Theology and opportunities to apply it. Juniors and Seniors have a Bible Introduction course, which strives to give them a deeper knowledge of each book of the Bible and how they all fit together in the scope of biblical history. For adults, we have a class that meets weekly, studying the Bible using the Sunday School Guide curriculum. From time to time we also offer special adult classes to help us put God’s word into practice. You are encouraged to join us!
Refuge
The Refuge is a combined Post-High and High School Summer ministry that is student-lead. We meet on Sunday nights from 7:30-9:00pm downstairs at First Reformed Church. We gather together to praise to God using contemporary praise music led by our praise band. Our worship times also include a biblical message and other large group activities. The Refuge is the combined effort of Christians from different churches in the community, working together to provide an opportunity for young Christians to lift up praise to God, grow in their faith, and encourage each other. Watch our site and other publications for a listing of this summer’s starting date!
