Proverbs 22:6
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it
Cruisin’
Cruisin’ is our Wednesday night Junior High program and it is a blast! We begin with some hangout time downstairs at First Reformed Church (Soul Impact is a joint ministry of Faith and First Reformed) at 6:15pm. At 6:30 everyone is called together and we join with the Junior High students for a joint contemporary praise time. Around 6:50 the two groups break up again and the High School students’ hear a message given by Jeremy, First Reformed’s Youth Director, while Junior High students hear a message from Tom, Faith’s Youth Director. We finish our night by breaking into small groups by age and gender for discussion and application of the message. All Junior High Students (grades 6 through 8) are welcome to join us!
Roots
Roots is our small group Bible study program for Junior High students. Students gather in small groups according to age and gender and, along with an accompanying adult leader, study together, share each others lives, pray and grow together. Talk to Tom to get involved.
Sunday School
After the morning service each Sunday (around 10:15) we have a variety of different ways to learn and grow. Our children ages 3-5 learn from the Bible using David C. Cook’s Bible in Life curriculum. They sing together, have a Bible Story and do crafts that reinforce the story. Our classes for Kindergarten through 8th Grade use the Walk With Me curriculum published through Faith Alive Resources. Walk With Me is written and taught to incorporate an understanding of the Christian Faith from a reformed perspective, which stresses things like God’s sovereignty and his covenant with His people.
We also offer classes for High School through Adult. The Freshman and Sophomores go through a class called Questions Worth Asking, which is a fresh look at the Heidelberg Catechism. This class gives them a good understanding of Reformed Theology and opportunities to apply it. Juniors and Seniors have a Bible Introduction course, which strives to give them a deeper knowledge of each book of the Bible and how they all fit together in the scope of biblical history. For adults, we have a class that meets weekly, studying the Bible using the Sunday School Guide curriculum. From time to time we also offer special adult classes to help us put God’s word into practice. You are encouraged to join us!
Silver Birch Retreat
Each year our Junior High students are invited to take a retreat up to the Silver Birch Ranch in White Lake, WI. The retreat is sponsored by the Reformed Church in America's Wisconsin Classis. We do all sorts of fun camping activities, sleep in cabins, ride horses, play group games, hang out in the canteen and have lots of laughs together. We also get together for large group times where we grow through messages taken from God’s word.
