worship

1 Chronicles 16:29
Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name... worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.

People today are looking for a place to worship in a way that is both inspiring and uplifting. Faith Reformed Church meets this challenge with a blend of traditional and contemporary elements. Both traditional hymns and contemporary music are sung, and on occasion drama is used to convey the message. Special services include our summer outdoor service, the Hanging of the Greens service, a Candlelight Service on Christmas Eve, children’s musicals, and Community Praise Nights. Overall, the blend of traditional and contemporary elements makes worshipping at Faith a unique experience.

Our Morning Worship Service

Our service begins at 9:00am and ends at approximately 10:15, with a nursery provided for small children. The service is outlined in a bulletin that is handed out as we enter the sanctuary. Below is a brief description of our Order of Worship, which is always detailed on the first page of our bulletin. Items that appear in the Order of Worship have been highlighted.

We begin with piano prelude music. Our Praise Team (singers, piano, drums and guitar) then calls us to worship with several praise songs. When this praise time is finished, we spend time greeting each other and finish by inviting people to share joys and concerns or give any announcements they may have. Our Pastor then offers a prayer for the congregation. After the prayer, our music ministry continues. Our choir often sings during this time, and when our choir takes a break during the summer special guests are invited to offer songs of praise to God.

When this music ministry finishes, the pastor invites us to stand and join together to sing a traditional hymn.  The children are then invited up for Children’s Time, listening as a brief Bible story, usually relating to the day’s sermon, is taught and applied specifically to them. The story is often accompanied by an object lesson and is given by the pastor or another member of the church.

When the children are then dismissed, the day’s Scripture is read aloud to the congregation, generally from the New Living Translation of the Bible. The pastor presents a message that teaches and applies the Bible to our daily lives. A sermon outline is provided in our bulletin. He finishes with a prayer, and then calls our deacons forward for the offertory, during which our members give tithes and gifts to the Lord.

After the offering is taken, we sing a final hymn. The pastor then gives the benediction, a blessing pronounced on the congregation.  We sing the doxology, giving glory to God, and the organist or pianist plays a postlude while we exit the sanctuary together.
