Membership

There are two types of membership at Faith Reformed Church: Non-communing and communing membership. Non-communing members are the covenant children born to believing parents, while communing members are those who have professed faith and been welcomed to the communion table by the Session.

To become a communing member of Faith Reformed, here are the steps:
1) Attend an Inquirer’s class. These classes are held throughout the year and the schedule is set collectively with attendees and the senior pastor.  The Inquirer’s class will review beliefs, church history, and membership vows.  You are not required to join the church after attending class; however, membership requires attending the class.

2) Be interviewed by the Session members. The Session (elders) of Faith Reformed Church hears a person’s testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and confirms, as far as they are humanly able, that those who join Faith Reformed Church are genuine followers of Jesus Christ.

3) Public profession of faith.  While a person is received as a member by the Session, they also affirm the vows in the worship service, making their public profession of faith in Jesus Christ before the congregation and being baptized with water if they have not already received the covenant sign of baptism.  The vows are the following:

  • Do you acknowledge yourselves to be sinners in the sight of God, justly deserving His displeasure, and without hope save [except] in His sovereign mercy?
  • Do you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as the Son of God, and Savior of sinners, and do you receive and rest upon Him alone for salvation as He is offered in the Gospel?
  • Do you now resolve and promise, in humble reliance upon the grace of the Holy Spirit, that you will endeavor to live as becomes the followers of Christ?
  • Do you promise to support the church in its worship and work to the best of your ability?
  • Do you submit yourselves to the government and discipline of the church, and promise to study its purity and peace?

Care Groups

As part of membership, Faith Reformed Church has 6 Care Groups (approximately 20 families per group) for the purpose of having more intentional encouragement, love, fellowship, care and support for each of its members.  The Care Groups assist the pastoral staff, elders, and deacons with shepherding and caring for the members.  As a body of Christ, we desire for everyone to experience the love of God through life’s ups and downs.  Each care group has a designated elder, deacon and two Care Group leaders.

Life Events  The following are the Life Events that our Care Groups typically respond to:  Births, special birthdays, special anniversaries, minor surgeries, major surgeries, prolonged illnesses, weddings, death in immediate family, graduations, and our shut-ins or those confined to their home or their living quarters.  The response could be a card, a visit, a meal, and more.

Faith Cares are a list of services that our Care Groups offer for its members.  Members are encouraged to reach out for assistance for things like: rides to church, appointments, groceries; help at home with shoveling, lawn mowing, changing light bulbs or batteries in smoke detectors; dog services and even elder sitting/visits.
